Our Story

As a dental hygienist and nature lover, I have been deeply concerned about the impact of traditional oral care products on the global, growing plastic pollution crisis.

Think of it this way: plastic toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes and floss dispensers can take more than 400+ years to decompose. This means that the very first plastic toothbrush and floss dispenser ever produced – and every single one thereafter – still exists today.

In 2020, during the height of the COVID19 crisis I got retrenched. After 14 years of working at various dental practices in and around Cape Town, South Africa, I felt that the time was right to start a competitive, environmentally friendly oral care range as an alternative to plastic oral care products. The Kindbrush® was launched in November 2020. I’m bootstrapping The Kindbrush® while doing clinical work at Patheodent Dental Practice and Matrix Dental Specialists, both located in Cape Town. I’m learning and trying to figure out how to be an entrepreneur day by day.

Oral care is important. Most people are born dentally healthy; the challenge is to keep it that way. This is why I wholeheartedly believe in preventative oral care achieved through good oral hygiene habits.

I trust that the design, look and feel of this beautiful, natural and sustainable range will inspire and motivate you to look forward to your daily oral care routine.

And while you’re at it, why not simply use a product that’s also much kinder to our planet? If you cannot change everything, change one thing.

May you always find something to smile about.

Kind regards

BEACH CLEAN-UPS ARRANGED BY THE KINDBRUSH®

In November 2022, after completing their final year exams, the oral hygiene students from the University of the Western Cape joined for
a beach clean-up in Sea Point. They all showed up with warm smiles and eager spirits, it was wonderful to get to know my soon to be colleagues better.
